"Mills O. Burnham. He was the first permanent keeper. Capt Burnham and family originally settled in Ankona, near Vero Beach in the early 1800′s." May I suggest--Ankona is an area approximately 7 miles south of Fort Pierce on the west bank of the Indian River in Saint Lucie County, rather than Indian River county as the text implies. This area is well know as it retains signage on Indian River Drive and is the home of the Ankona Palms Cemetery that has Florida's 31st Gov. Dan McCarty's grave therein (7201 South Indian River Drive). Someone may want to check with the Historical Society of Saint Lucie County.
